Roundabout Returns to Swansea's Kingsway

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/local-news/roundabout-just-returned-swanseas-kingsway-13907413 ffs, why is the council doing this ? that junction by Potters Wheel is busy, the lights were ok there, why spend money on changing something that wasn't broken? there are roads about that need repairs done before messing with new or revived road layouts...  City & County of Swansea, please get your planners to decide and stick with their plans, not chop and change as they see fit. Any change to road layouts confuse drivers and slow down traffic flow, what about pedestrians? it  wont be easy to cross there now, with the lights they could.  Oh yes, was told earlier about a new raised island type bit that has appeared at the other end of the Kingsway, near the Dragon Hotel, a friend of mine almost drove over it,,,, what on earth is the council playing at?  I'm thinking of avoiding driving through the middle of Swansea and will use it as a roundabout just until they have fi

Gloucester Trip 2017

Image
A few days ago, I decided I needed a day out, so went to Cardiff to pick up Bill, my friend who now has his own flat (I'm sure he will get used to living alone, I know I am) Anyway, we took a trip up to Gloucester, a really nice city, and I parked the car in a car park that was nice and cheap, £2 for 4 hours, not bad at all as paring goes. Took some photos there and on the way back, which you can see online on my Facebook Gloucester Photos On the way back we went via Lydney, which has a harbour, it sits on a bank of the River Severn Lydney Harbour Photos We also stopped in Tintern, which is famous for its Abbey  Tintern Photos One photo I took in Gloucester was of part of an old building, church or something, and through a door way you can see some street art on a wall, on it is a quote 'The people believe what the media tells them they believe' quote from George Orwell

2017 Catch-up

It's been a while since I last wrote a blog on here, so its catch-up time. Well after a great half a year with a great guy, going to festivals and enjoying each others company, things went down hill. We split up over something daft, and those of you that know me well, will know I am not that good when it comes to break-ups (friends or other) and tend to fall apart. Well that's what happened, and for the last few months have been on antidepressants, which have been messing up my sleep pattern, and my get up and go most days has almost gone. Health wise, apart from going down in to depression, I am now on an inhaler for my breathing (cold, hot and windy weather makes it really bad) I am reliant on my car even more now for getting out, can't do buses or walk that far without getting out of breath. My housing support worker decided earlier in the year to put in an appeal for my PIP, which is coming up now later this week. I recently had my medical for ESA, still wait

Chest Pains

You may remember me blogging about chest pains I've been having. Well on Tuesday of this week, I had an angiogram at Princes of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. It was a strange feeling having it done, but it was clear. I was hoping it would show something up, but alas, nothing. More tests and investigations ahead for me then to see what the cause is.

Panic attacks?

In the last month or so I have been getting panic attacks. These are not good and are scary. I've had three since Mid November that are cause for concern. I get a pounding headache, sweat, can't catch my breath and feel like my heart is going to explode. I've also had slight ones which do not bother me too much, but these mega ones do and frighten me. After the last one yesterday evening - had a bit of a sleepless night - that panic attack yesterday evening knocked me for 5 (cant say 6 as it wasn't as bad) could all the extra stress of day to day living on my own be causing this? I was never as bad as this when in Cardiff with friends in their spare room... financial worries and the like? Am sure it wasn't a panic attack due to figuring out a few things in my head, and more down to weight and what I was carrying. UPDATE: 15th Feb 2017 My car is currently off the road due to clutch problems, yesterday I had to go on a bus to get to my father and meet him,

A Moving Time...

Well its a time for moving it seems.  My best friend, Neil, is almost all moved in to his temporary flat while his is getting renovated.   Another friend is moving from his flat in to his Mum's one, and his Mum is moving in to a new flat.  I am finally moving in to the Swansea area at long last, the Bonymaen area to be exact, after being given a flat by Family Housing. On top of all this moving that is going on a festival to go to, Nozstock in Hereforshire, and then off in August on a European back packing holiday for a month.... can't wait! But not sure when I've moved in to Swansea what direction to go with my life. I want to keep doing radio, but where?.... carry on at Bro Radio in Barry or try to go back to where I got the radio bug in the first place and aim for hospital radio in Llanelli and BGM?... or I cold get back in to DJing again Hmmmmm.... not sure what to do

UK and the EU

So the people on the UK have had the vote, to 'remain' in or 'leave' the EU... the vote was a close one to leave, which has caused no end of problems. The pound has lost value, companies have decided to ditch the UK and its workers and shift to other countries, Scotland want to go it alone and Northern Ireland wants to reunite with Eire and leave the UK. David Cameron is to stand down (....no real loss there then!), Jeremy Corbyn won't stand down from Labour even though he cabinet is jumping ship. One thing that Labour said during it's 'leave' campaign was that the NHS was to get an extra £350m a week... which they now say 'sorry this won't happen' a out and out lie from them then - which when people saw this made people vote Plaid Cymru leader, Leanne Wood said in Cardiff earlier today ' We have to hold the leave campaigners to the vow they made during the EU campaign, including an extra £350m for the NHS every week. We ne

DAB on the M4

In the car I have been testing something out - between Cardiff and Swansea, and discovered that D1 an the SDL multiplexes are poor in coverage compared to the Swansea multiplex which covers most of my journey. A drop out on most multiplexes around the Sarn/Bridgend turn off on the M4, but from junction 33 to junction 42. The Swansea multiplex has me tuned in - Swansea Sound gets my vote radio wise between J33 and J42 The South East Wales multiplex just about gets to Porthcawl turn off befor turning in to burbling mud.

... After Pnumonia

AFTER PNUMONIA: Well back in August 2015 I ended up in Llandough Hospital with Pnumonia. It was no fun being hooked up to machines having drips going in to you for 3 days. Staying in bed or sitting in a chair was no fun for someone who likes to keep busy helping others and volunteering. My legs swelled up and so did my feet. I was looked after very well by the hospital staff, just want to say a huge thank you to them, and to the doctors at Lansdowne Surgery as well for their care. Anyway back home now, itching to get stuck in to things, but am due to have various scans and appointments. Got a scan of my heath comming up, as well as a scan of my abdomen area, a chest x-ray, and a possible scan of my liver too if the blood results come back iffy. I have also got an appointment coming up with Dr Pink (that's the doctor I am seeing for my lung problem) and also with the Chest Pain Clinic. I am still getting chest pains, on ventalin and a spray for my heart, but one bit of good news -

Progress on job front

Even though I am not well, I do still want to do something with my life. A few weeks ago I saw a post saying that Inrix (providers of travel news to radio stations) were looking for someone for Sunday morning. I recorded a demo using the information they supplied, and had a call 'can I pop in for a chat next week' Fingers crossed - hope I get it I will only be working 5 and 3/4 hours a week, but its a step in the right direction, and its using my current skill set.... Customer Service Skills (for answering phones and talking to people) Voice (for presenting travel updates on radio) If I get it, I will be heard on radio stations in the South West of England (including BBC Radio Gloucestershire, BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Radio Devon!)
